Probation
Often, a DUI/DWI conviction will result in the judge mandating a period of probation
- Once sentenced, you will be assigned a probation officer who will be tasked with monitoring your behavior, and ensuring that you are complying with the demands of the court
- During this period of supervision, you will be required to submit to monthly sobriety checks, and possibly surprise sobriety visits
- In this case the probation officer will show up unannounced and require you to submit to a breathalyzer
- You will also be required to pay a monthly fee for the monitoring
- This fee is in addition to any other fee you are ordered by the court to pay
- The length of time you are ordered to serve probation is determined by the severity of the offense
A FORMER PROSECUTOR is in the best position to ensure that you either serve the least amount of probation, or in some cases, none at all
