Common Penalties
DUI/DWI arrests that result in a conviction are most commonly resolved in one of three ways:
- A “plea” or “trial violation” not deemed a crime, which is punishable by up to 15 days in prison and/or a $500 fine.
- A misdemeanor which can be punishable by not more than year in prison and up to a $1,000 fine.
- A felony conviction which will likely include over a year in prison and penalties and fees that often soar well over $1,000.
